There are 3 main reasons for choosing a house instead of a hotel for your Florida vacation: Space, Convenience, and Cost Saving.
Space:
You and your family will have a whole lot more space to move around in during those times when you decide to rest from the hectic rounds of theme parks. Not only a separate and spacious bedroom for every two people, but two separate family room areas so that different groups can enjoy different activities (and different music!) at the same time. Two separate dining areas (as well as an outside patio table and chairs) so people can eat how where and when they want, as well as a large kitchen area equally suited to cooking a whole meal, opening your choice of wine, beer or soft drinks and/or opening up a takeaway or home delivered meal (from any of the several nearby eateries).
Convenience:
You get to do just what you want, how and when you want. Not only choosing your own meals, snacks and drinks – but also enjoying them whenever you feel like it – in the middle of the day by the pool, or in the middle of the night, it doesn't matter - the refrigerator (with its built in icemaker) is always available.
Evenings can be spent watching cable TV, or your choice of DVD, listening to your choice of music, playing cards or board games – whatever you want. And the two separate family rooms allow for multiple choices.
Cost Saving:
Not only will you have the most economic accomodation – up to 10 people can stay for only $100 per night even in high season – you can also save on the cost of drinks, snacks and meals during the holiday. Poolside snacks and drinks are served at supermarket prices, not hotel prices. Leaving you more money to spend at those bargain shopping malls!
We are private individuals who rent out our own property, and do not offer professional services of this nature. However, as we have frequently spent family holidays in this area, we have placed one or two useful internet references on the “Useful Links” Page of this website, and would be delighted to answer any of your questions about the area by 'phone or email.
119 Elberton Drive is on a development called Florida Pines – adjacent to Highway 27, 2 miles north of junction 55 of Interstate 4 and 1 mile south of the western end of Highway 192. To get to Disney world you join Interstate 4 and drive north to junction 62. (In the US system of numbering, this tells you that the distance between the two junctions is 7 miles). You then travel a further mile to the entrance to the Disney property – a total of 10 miles which takes 15 minutes, even in peak holiday traffic.
Some older villas are closer to Disney, but the route from the villa to Disney is much more likely to be along smaller, more congested roads and may well take longer.
Being so close to Interstate 4 also means that is easy to get to many other destinations – Universal Studios, International Drive, and the many shopping malls of the Orlando area – as well as the other attractions of central Florida – Kennedy Space Centre, the Gulf Coast beaches, and Tampa for all its attractions including Busch Gardens and the sporting facilities of the Buccaneers (NFL) the Devil Rays (MLB) and the Lightning (NHL).
One of the wonderful things about this area is the vast number and range of eating establishments available within a few minutes. It would be impossible to name them all, but our family favourites have proved to be Dennys for breakfast, JT's Prime Ribs and the Outback steakhouse – to name just 3 of the 50 or so places we have tried – all within half an hour's drive. There really is something to suit all tastes and budgets.
A supermarket (Publix), Drug Store (Wallgreens), a 9-hole public golf course, two eighteen-hole public golf courses, gas station, Seven-Eleven, Dennys, MacDonalds, Waffle House, Steak House, Chinese, Italian, and Pizza Restaurants and several small shops/stores.
Central Florida went 44 years without experiencing a hurricane until 3 passed through in 2004. Thankfully the passage of the hurricane over 50 miles of land means that it loses much of its power before reaching the Orlando area. Should you be unfortunate enough to experience a hurricane during your visit, we can testify from first hand experience that although it is an unpleasant (albeit spectacular) experience, it is highly unlikely to be life-threatening.
